Pygmy Horned Devil Mobula Rays – Original Watercolour and Ink Painting

$490.00 inc. VAT

A fever of mobula rays in flight; also known as long horned pygmy devilrays (along with a plethora of names: diamond fish, eregoodoo, oxray). Very similar to manta rays but smaller and their mouths are tucked under (underslung), rather than at the front like a manta. Neither of them have a venomous stinger spine 😅

These endangered rays are found in coastal waters of the tropical west Indo-Pacific, so in Aussie waters, you’ll spot them from Port Hedland in WA, up around the top end and over to Sydney on the east coast. They’re a social species and hang around in little groups of a dozen or so.

Original, hand painted watercolour and ink illustration on Arches cold pressed watercolour paper 300 gsm, measuring 280 mm x 400 mm. Gummed tape intact on edges (not inclusive to measurements above, to give additional coverage when framing).

Note: there are open edition eco reproduction prints of this original artwork available.
